Special Education Parent Action Committee (SEPAC)
A Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is an organization dedicated to supporting students with special needs and to ensure families have a voice in their children's education. Parents and caregivers of children with disabilities—including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans—are automatically welcome to participate.
SEPACs serve an advisory and participatory role in the school district, working directly in partnership with school committees, special education directors, and district leadership. They advise on policies, programs, planning, and safety to improve special education services across the district. For families, a SEPAC provides essential support and educational opportunities. Councils offer parent support networks, share resources on basic rights, and host informational workshops. They also provide a safe, constructive space for parents to share feedback and express concerns about their child's educational experience.
