Meet Our Remarkable Students

As a public charter school, we only admit students through an enrollment lottery; there is no entrance exam or other selection criteria.  In the 2016--2017 school year, Boston Prep serves 415 students in grades 6 - 12 and 181 alumni.

Boston Prep: A Diverse Student Body

Almost all of the students currently enrolled in our school identify as a non-white, ethnic minority, accurately representing the diversity found in the neighborhoods surrounding our campus. The vast majority of our students come from the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, and Hyde Park, with a smaller number of students traveling from various other neighborhoods in Boston, including South Boston and Jamaica Plain.

Selected Populations at Boston Prep

At Boston Prep, we strive to maintain a student population that is reflective of the communities we serve, including providing services to students with disabilities and students who are new to the English language. Today, nearly 1 in 5 students at Boston Prep has a disability and 1 in 10 students is classified as an English Language Learner.
