Meet Our Remarkable Students

As a public charter school, we only admit students through an enrollment lottery; there is no entrance exam or other selection criteria.

Boston Prep: A Diverse Student Body

Almost all of the students currently enrolled in our school identify as a non-white, ethnic minority, accurately representing the diversity found in the neighborhoods surrounding our campus. The vast majority of our students come from the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, and Hyde Park, with a smaller number of students traveling from various other neighborhoods in Boston, including South Boston and Jamaica Plain.

Selected Populations at Boston Prep

At Boston Prep, we strive to maintain a student population that is reflective of the communities we serve, including providing services to students with disabilities and students who are new to the English language. Today, over one-quarter of students at Boston Prep has a disability and nearly one in five students is classified as an English Language Learner.

A Growing Student Body

In January 2017, Boston Prep was awarded 300 additional seats by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, enabling our student body to nearly double in size.  Our population will grow over a five-year process, beginning in the 2017-2018 school year and ending with 700 students in grades six through twelve in the 2021-2022 school year.
