Boston Prep's permanent home has begun to take shape at 885 River Street in Hyde Park. In December, we celebrated the beginning of construction with a community groundbreaking ceremony. On a sunlight-filled Saturday morning, over 100 students, alumni, families, staff, supporters, and community members came together to celebrate the beginning of construction of Boston Prep's permanent home.
Founder Scott McCue and Executive Director Sharon Liszanckie recounted for the crowd the long and difficult journey to a permanent home, dubbed by Mr. McCue the "library of broken dreams." Teachers shared stories about the fabled past of the Most Precious Blood building, where Boston Prep has resided since its founding 12 years ago. Students shared their excitement and vision for how the new facility will enhance the Boston Prep experience. Rounding out the speaking program, Jessica Dawn, mother of a Boston Prep student and alumna, shared her deep appreciation for the school and excitement that the school will now be firmly rooted in Boston, encouraging the school to "continue to be that shining light in educating our children today for a better future tomorrow. Since the groundbreaking, construction has been steady and swift. The building has taken form, as the foundation has been laid and steel beams have been erected. The building has quite literally risen from the ground, and its form is now easily identifiable. Construction remains on track to be completed in the Spring of 2017.
Boston Prep's capital campaign remains open, continuing to seek funds toward our initial equity investment in the facility.
